Still no Relaxation for OBC Aspirants!!!! 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 1
Delhi University introduced a 9% Quota for students from other backward classes this year, But the problem is that most seats reserved in this Quota are Still LYING VACANT

OBC students are struggling to get admission as their OBC certificates are not recognized by the university.

for eg: Devender kumar a DU aspirant, has an other backward class category certificate...he has met the rest of the requirements for a statistics honors seat under the OBC category at Ramjas college. But the candidate from Fazibad has still not got admission. He belongs to "KASAUDHAN a class not mentioned in the OBC list of the college. he has the central and the state certificate of OBC quota but because they don't have kasaudhan category in their list that is why he can't get admission in the first list...

A visit to the dean of the students welfare office also did not help. officials are not willing to give in writing the reasons for tuning him down????
More than 10,000 students have applied under OBC category. This year the university has 3870 seats for the OBC students. But most seats are still vacant, because of the difference in the OBC lists...

Most of the colleges had given a relaxation of just 2-3% for OBC's in the second list .However the fact that colleges were still not being able to fill up OBC seats could be attributed to the fact that many OBC students with high marks were opting for admission in general category...

kirori mal college has 106 seats reserved for obc students but so far has admitted only 14...

Hansraj college ha 90 obc seats but only 2 admissions so far....

Ramjas college has 116 obc reserved seats and 28 admissions...

Daulat ram college has 94 obc seats reserved only 1 admission....

Acharya Narendra Dev college has 40 seats and only 19 admissions.

Rajender Kumar, conver of OBC admissions in SRI Venkateshwara college said" there are some particular castes that are not mentioned on the central OBC list. So the students coming with certificates belonging to those castes are being refused admissions. This is further contributing to the dismal figures which in our case is only 6 admissions against a total 60 in humanities courses".

If this procedure going to proceed further in colleges then I think most of the OBC seats are going to remain vacant. The OBC candidates would have to wait for the further list hoping a drop of at least 3-5% in some courses in the OBC quota......

Do u mean that each college has a different cast-list with it?
Thats a terrible execution by the HRD.

if the seats go vaccant its a further intellectual loss to the state. (we've already faced mockery - as a nation - when Quota was re-introduced by HRD)

gud post to start wid priyanka !!
I read a few days ago that only about 600 out of 6300 seats were filled in OBC cateogory.
and this was due to lack of knowledge of the OBC aspirants.
They were not gievn the cource and college they wanted, also some of them arrived at 3 30 when the distribution timing had finished, the aspirant said that it took her a long way to come to the art faculty and it was difficult to place it.
The OBC need some helpers spread in DU who can help them in all kind of processes.
And if this trend follows ( seats going vacant) then its going to be a big concern for the colleges and the nation too..
I think these seats will be filled through migration students and various other quota implemented later. And some by the general cateogory who didnt make it by a .25%...
