Teachers day 2 Years ago Karma: 10
India has been celebrating Teacher's Day on 5th of September since 1962. 5th of September is the birthday of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakhrishnan, a philosopher and a teacher par excellence. Some of his students and friends approached him and requested him to allow them to celebrate his birthday. In reply, Dr, Radhakrishnan said, "instead of celebrating my birthday separately, it would be my proud privilege if September 5th is observed as Teacher's day". The request showed Dr.Radhakrishnan's love for the teaching profession. From then onwards, his birthday is observed as Teacher's Day in India. All this lead to Teachers Day origin in India.
In Hindi, a teacher is called ?guru?. ?Gu? means darkness and ?ru? means light. So a teacher is one who leads you to light from darkness. The ?Guru-shishya? relationship is like that between the parents and their children. Like a father who loves his sons and daughters, the teacher should love his pupils.Accordingly a great responsibility rests on the teacher. To a great extent the future of students depends on their teacher. It is the teacher who creates inclination and avidity among the students and provides them an incentive for performing good deeds.
But unfortunately the guru shishya relation has almost lost its glory now. Most of us fail to respect our teachers. We treat them as if they are our paid servants. We don?t even give them the respect that they deserva in the capacity of being our elders.
Frnz , we really need to value nd respect our teachers and thereby protect our culture.
I hope all of u will wish your teachers today and if doin so is not possible then atleast remember them nd say thanx to them for making you what you are today.
